1 Definition of Unsuccessful Learners of College English

It was Pan Hongwei, Wang Cuichun and Tan Jianfeng (2003) who first put forward the concept of unsuccessful learners of college English learning. They claim that: Recent years, with the expansion of college enrollment and the ever-growing demands for college students English level from the society, the number of unsuccessful English learners has increased significantly, so as to form a special community that we call unsuccessful learners of college English. Before the expansion of college enrollment, unsuccessful learners have existed but not much enough to form a community. Nowadays, on one hand, the number of total students becomes larger. On the other hand, more students that have a weak foundation in English turn up. By combining the two, unsuccessful learners of college English appear.

3. 设计方案和技术路线

本研究选取南京中医药大学非英语专业的148位本科生作为研究对象,其中英语学习弱势学生为74人,他们在第四学期参加的CET4成绩为355分以下。优势学生为74人,他们在第四学期参加的CET4成绩为550至710分之间。采取问卷的方式对大学生的英语学习动机与兴趣进行调查,通过对比分析,了解弱势群体存在的问题。
