1. 研究目的与意义
With therapid development of Internet technology, people living thousands of milesapart can communicate without having to face each other. Nowadays, people arebecoming more active on social media. TV plays become an indispensable way ofentertainment in people''s spare time, and the existence of comments strengthensthe authenticity of interactive experience. What people say at different timescan be shared at the same time which express their inner feelings at thatmoment through words. These words reveal different emotions of the speaker andcan even generate emotional resonance when thoughts meet together. To explore this speech act helps people better understandthe meanings and emotions these comments convey to reach a more effectivecommunication and also a great grasp of the plots and characters in the TV.
In thebook, A new concise course in linguistics for students of English, theyattach a great importance to this. As a comparatively new branch oflinguistics, pragmatics mainly studies how speakers of a language use sentencesto effect successful communication. Speech acttheory, performing certain acts through words, was originated with the Britishphilosopher John Austin in the late 50s of the 20th century. It''s aphilosophical explanation of the nature of linguistic communication, which is fellinto locutionary, illocutionary and perlocutionary act when speaking. (Daiamp; He, 2018, pp. 77-82)
2. 研究内容和预期目标
Research contents: To find out the expressive function of TVcomments, namely how do the audience build a relationship with both unrealplots and other audience watching the same plot in different times.
The keyissue to be solved: Collect sufficient corpus of the comments on selected famousAmerican TV series in different emotions like love, hatred, happiness, sorrow,indifference and sympathy and connection with specific plots and characters.

1.Studies on expressivefunction
Expressives is an important part of the illocutionary act,expressing feelings or attitudes towards an existing state, which is applied in communication and teaching areas. In daily contacts,Zhang amp; Yue (2002) insist when implementing expressives, the expression shouldbe clear and accurate as well as decent and polite. Usually, politeness is in themain position while cooperation is in the secondary position (p.104). InForeign Language teaching, Yuan (2013) claims the functions of expressivespeech acts performed in college English teachers'' feedback, which adapt to theneeds of learners and motivate their passion for language learning with properpraise or criticism (p.65).
Marta amp; Carmen (2015) investigate the expressive speech acts in onlinetask-oriented interaction by university students, and find that size, age,linguistic proficiency and cultural homogeneity can influence the frequency ofuse, concrete linguistic realizations of individual subtypes, and the use oftypographic marks. Specifically speaking, expressives uses declarative, interrogativeand especially exclamatory sentence in certain discourses (pp.186-190).
